Long Crendon won the Branch 6-Bell Striking Competition at Swanbourne today, 13th May, by one point from the Stewkley ‘A’ team, with the Little Horwood ‘Scratch Team’ in third place.

The youngest members of the Long Crendon team, Tobias Haseldine (11) and Sophie Ingham (13), receive the Branch 6-Bell Striking Competition trophy from Judge Anne Pratt.

The winning Long Crendon team with the 6-Bell Trophy, from L to R, James Haseldine, Andrew Haseldine, Sophie Ingham (13), Kate Allen, Tobias Haseldine (10), Julie Haseldine.

Other teams taking part were East Claydon (4th), a Committee ‘Scratch Team’ (5th), Little Horwood (6th) and Stewkley ‘B’.

The judges, former Branch Chairman Jeremey Pratt, and his wife Anne, commented that the standard of ringing was very good, especially considering all teams contained some relatively inexperienced ringers, and a couple of them included juniors.

The ‘Swanborne Ladies’ laid on a splendid tea in the Village Hall; exactly what was needed after the ringing. All in all a very pleasant afternoon.

Thanks to Colin Ingham for the photos.
