On Friday 17th October 10 Chearsley parishioners and the vicar headed down to London full of excitement. We were heading for Whitechapel to watch the casting of our 3 new bells. We spent a fascinating morning at the foundry culminating in the casting of the bells which will be added as the treble, second and third to augment our present 3 bells to 6. It is hoped that the bells will leave Whitechapel for White’s of Appleton later this month. Whilst they are there we will have an opportunity to see them before they are brought across to Chearsley to be hung in the tower. The bells have been named 1 – Elizabeth R, 2- Nicholas (for the church’s patron saint) and 3- Oliver. This last is in memory of our former village publican who died suddenly at the age of 38 as the bell project was about to be launched. His family and the customers of the pub – suitably named ‘The Bell’ – have raised the funds for this bell.
Fund raising for the project still continues, so if you would like to support us do ask for a leaflet from Jeremy or Anne Pratt, or come along to one of our fund raising events. The next event is:
